Alicia Silverstone returns to series TV in the new drama “Irish Blood” streaming on Acorn TV, which is now also available via Prime. Silverstone, who came to fame for her role as Cher in the hit 1995 movie “Clueless”, now takes on the dramatic role of Fiona Sharpe/Murphy, a Los Angeles divorce attorney who uncovers some dark secrets about her family.

Having lived her entire life thinking her father Declan (Jason O’Mara) deserted her and her mother, she exacts revenge on men through her law practice. Her idea about men is colored by what she thinks is abandonment, however that was really not the case. When she receives a cryptic message from her father, now living in Ireland, something inside her knows she must travel to that country to confront the man she thought deserted his family.

When she gets to the Emerald Isle, Fiona discovers there is much more to her father’s past than what she has thought the past 30 years. She comes face to face with her paternal family. Her grandmother, aunt, and uncle have no idea about her. They did not even know her father was married let alone had a daughter. From there it gets interesting.

In the package sent to her, Declan included a key. Once she unravels what the key unlocks, she is off on a dangerous mission that takes on a journey she never thought about. The truth about her father and his family slowly comes to light. But there is more to this mystery.

As she uncovers one fateful and fatal mystery, another one pops up. There is a thread of evil running through this idyllic Irish town; an underlying current of danger and criminal activities. Fiona is steadfast about unraveling everything to figure out what happened to her father and how he fits into these events.

With the help of Roisin (Ruth Codd), a young and eager local police (Garda in Ireland), the duo slowly uncover one evil act after another. This town’s history is riddled with crime and murder, and Fiona is determined to unravel them all.

As the episodes unwind, Fiona continues to dream about her father, the past she had with him, as well as converse with him, although he is only a spirit and image in her imagination. By combining memories of her past in California with what she encounters in Ireland, her brilliance manages to fit pieces together while at the same time putting her and her mother in danger.

Also during her journey to uncover the secrets hidden in the town, Fiona is befriended by a man (Leonardo Taiwo) who was close to her father and who is one of the few people in town that actually knew about her existence.

This is an interesting series, however if viewers think Fiona’s journey will end at the end of episode six, they have another thing coming. The ending of season one is a big cliff-hanger, leaving viewers anxious for the second season. There has been no announcement about a renewal, however it is very likely there will be a second season.

The final episode of season one of “Irish Blood” premieres September 8, 2025. The previous episodes are available to stream on Acorn TV. Acorn TV is a streaming channel and part of the AMC networks. It is also available as an add-on to Prime Video.

Starting at $4.32/week.
