Travel to the Silicon Valley for CBS’ “Cupertino,” an interesting look at cut-throat business dealings. Mike Colter stars as Michael Price, a well-respected attorney who was cheated by his former employer which happens to be a tech start-up company. That doesn’t sit well with Price as he sets out to take down some of the tech elite that have been taking advantage of others.

About the same time Price experienced his dilemma, Rachel Keller (Olivia Keller) is also fired from her legal job at the tech company. They both know the frustrations of going up against big tech, however they decide to join together to fight back and set up their own legal firm to do just that.

Natalia Boutella (Busy Philipps) just divorced her super-rich husband and decides to help the new firm, with a little quid-pro-quo. She puts up the money for the firm to get going and in return she is able to use her legal knowledge to assist in the cases.

And Ella Stiller is Christy Palladino, the firm’s eager receptionist who also manages to do some investigating and adds her insights which helps the team in unexpected ways.

As the new firm starts fighting for justice for the little guys who have been shafted by big tech, things get complicated. Soon they are known as the firm who can get things done.

A big part of the stories deal with AI. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Will humanity suffer under AI? As the season progresses, viewers might find themselves frustrated by how technology is intruding on privacy in this modern world.

We were told decades ago that technology would make our lives better. As we have all discovered, it is a blessing and a curse, and we have lost all our privacy. This show shines a spotlight on that.

This is touted as a David vs. Goliath legal drama, but it is much more. In today’s world of high tech and big business, there are bound to be those who have had injustices done to them even though we were told technology would be the saving grace of our lives.

During a special media conference, the actors spoke about the show and their characters.

Colter explained about the two lawyers joining together, “At first it’s sort of a personal vendetta. It’s a personal situation. [Price] sees Olivia also has personal stakes. He understands how valuable she could be because of her appearance, her perception, and he understands how that plays with his own perception because it’s off-putting.” He added, “He’s sort of two handedly doing things for the right reasons, but it has to make sense and she balances him out, I believe.”

About the show itself, the actor stated, “I love the way they tell the stories. …There’s a little bit of humor first, but it still is a drama and that’s the great thing about it. You’re going to learn something but you’re not boing to be beaten over the head with it.”

Ella Stiller comes from an entertainment family. Her grandparents were Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara and her parents are Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller. “I’ve learned so much from them,” she said about her acting parents. In this show Ella is branching out from her family’s history. She said they have never been in procedural dramas, so she is making her mark in a new territory for the Stiller family.

Colter’s last foray into series television was in the 2019-2024 show “Evil.” Keller last starred in the 2022-2024 series “Tokyo Vice,” and Phillips co-starred in the 2021-2024 series “Girls5eva.” Between the main cast, there is a lot of series experience and they are all hopeful “Cupertino” will be a long-running show and hit a chord with viewers.

“Cupertino” premieres October 8, 2026 with new episodes premiering weekly on CBS and streaming the following day on Paramount+.

Starting at $4.32/week.
