Saturday night brought a sold-out crowd to Velour Live Music Gallery for its annual Les Femmes De Velour showcase. Les Femmes was started in the mid ’90s and later revived in 2010 by Velour owner Corey Fox. The event is meant to celebrate all of the talented female artists in the scene. Les Femmes is a monthlong celebration that takes place every February. This year, the celebration spans over 10 nights featuring 40 talented artists.

Saturday night was buzzing with excitement as fans waited outside the venue. Saturday night’s headliner was local star Jane Beeson. Beeson and her band won the December 2022 Battle of the Bands and has grown more and more popular since. After moving to Los Angeles in the fall, fans were anxious for a hometown show return and it did not disappoint. The lineup consisted of Sabrina Fair, who just released a new single called “Lemon Scented,” and Salt Lake band HASHA. Following those two was Hana Eid, who came all the way from Nashville to perform.

Fair was up first, playing original songs from her upcoming EP release as well as a Phoebe Bridgers cover that brought a ton of energy and excitement from the crowd. Following her performance, Salt Lake artist HASHA took the stage. After her first song, she remarked how nervous she was, which didn’t matter as she and her band wowed the crowd with their skill and her vocals. Eid was up next, commenting through her set about her excitement of visiting Utah and being in the mountains. Everyone seemed to love her performance and she continually remarked how nice everyone was throughout her performance.

Beeson took the stage and instantly there was a wave of excitement. Beeson’s band consists of Mitch Romney on drums, Carson Ripley on guitar, Avery Davis on bass and Beeson playing guitar and singing. Fans sang along from start to finish as the night progressed and listened excitedly to the unreleased songs that they didn’t know. Beeson and her band perform succinctly together and it’s obvious that they were enjoying every moment on stage interacting with the crowd. Fan favorite songs of the night included “Best Case Girl,” “Online Issues” and the highly requested “I Haven’t Seen You Since The Summer.” If you haven’t seen Beeson yet, be sure to go to her next hometown show; you won’t be disappointed.

With four more shows to round out the event, Thursday night will have Jenn Blosil headlining, Friday will have NPR Tiny Desk Concert winner Little Moon headlining, Saturday will have Mindy Gledhill headlining plus a special acoustic show on Feb. 29. Highlighting some of the best talent in the area, Les Femmes is a celebration you won’t want to miss. Be sure to get your tickets for the remaining nights now at 24tix.com.
