The Silicon Slopes Health Advisory Board is a new entity that aims to help address health care and insurance needs within the business community.

In today’s world, there are plenty of reasons to worry about our family’s safety and security. However, we shouldn’t have to worry about having access to health care.

Eighty-six percent of Utahns worry about affording health care. As one of the largest household expenditures, rising health care costs impact every Utah household and business.

Recently, Silicon Slopes introduced the Silicon Slopes Health Advisory Board (SSHAB). This major initiative is focused on making health insurance more accessible and boosting health education for Utah’s small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and entrepreneurs.

The SSHAB is committed to building strategic partnerships between health care providers, businesses and government entities. By providing leadership and advocacy, the board will offer valuable insights into health plan options, wellness education and policy recommendations, all aimed at enhancing health care for Utah’s business community.

“For the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege to help health care companies digitally transform to improve patient outcomes, reduce financial risk and become more operationally efficient,” said Amy Cook, co-founder and chief marketing officer at Fullcast. “It is an honor to now facilitate valuable partnerships between the providers I deeply respect and the individuals they serve. I look forward to facilitating this initiative.”

The SSHAB will work closely with partners across the state to ensure that the future of health care is innovative, accessible and inclusive.

The board’s key objectives include the following:

  • Advising on health initiatives: Provide insights and recommendations on health plan offerings and wellness education tailored to the needs of SMBs.
  • Promoting collaboration: Foster partnerships between health care providers, businesses and the government to drive health care innovation.
  • Advocating for policy changes: Support legislative efforts to reduce health care costs and improve coverage for Utah’s business community.

This announcement comes alongside the launch of the Utah Model of Care by the One Utah Health Collaborative and Gov. Spencer Cox, which focuses on these three core priorities: affordable, high-quality and trusted care.

Both initiatives aim to make health care more affordable and accessible for all Utahns. While they’re separate efforts, the collaboration between government, business and health care leaders shows a shared vision for the future of health care in Utah.

To show our support and commitment to the Utah Model of Care, the SSHAB is stepping up to help small employers in Utah achieve affordable health care. By focusing on the unique needs of SMBs, the board will play a key role in building a healthier, more resilient business landscape across the state.
