College football

Former Knight wraps up college career: Senior defensive end CJ Ah You brought his university playing days to a close with an appearance in the Hula Bowl all-star game Jan. 14. In his final season at Oklahoma, he played in all 14 games and posted 25 solo and 15 assisted tackles. He also had 8.4 tackles for a loss (-48 yds), four sacks (-42 yds), three deflections, seven hurries and one fumble caused. He had two unassisted tackles against Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl Jan. 1, his final contest as a Sooner. He’s hoping to be picked up during the NFL draft in April.

Drill team

Chevaliers finish fourth at state meet: The Lone Peak drill team finished fourth overall at the 5A drill competition Jan. 26 at UVSC’s McKay Events Center. In individual events, the team placed fourth in dance and fifth in the prop division. Shalease Harkness, Emily Layton and Katie Mower were named to the All-Region team. Academic All-Region honors were earned by Rachel Butler, Keri Chynoweth, Kelsi Flygare, Erica Green, Christine Hymas, Cassie Maxwell, Mallory Miller, Megan Morris, Katie Mower, Autumn Nelson, Katelyn Reiley, McKenna Trinnaman and Amanda Welch.

College football

Chase Palmer named to Don Hansen’s Division III All-America Team: The former Knight defensive back received honorable mention on this team last month at the conclusion of his junior season, his first with Oberlin. Palmer was stellar in his debut season, leading all NCAC defensive backs in tackles (106) and finishing second overall in the conference in the same category. Palmer also paced the NCAC in interceptions (five) and total passes defended.
