This year’s state 5A state meet was kinder to the Pleasant Grove Vikings. Held inside BYU’s Richards Building Feb. 9-10, the meet included multiple entrants from the school swim team.
Last year, only one Viking got to see action in the water. This season, the team finished 14th in the girls division and 21st in the boys events.
Amanda Heninger, a junior, placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle.
She later joined teammates Rainy Butler, Faith Jordan and Sara Dickerson in grabbing a 15th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Nate Fonseca finished 15th in the boys 100-yard butterfly. He was the only Viking to place a boys event during the state meet.
