The rosters for the Utah Valley All-Star Basketball Classic will include players from all three local state champions as well as four from Lehi High School.
Kevin Lindquist, Ryan Rios and Landon Clegg will represent Class 5A boys state champion Lone Peak on the North All-Stars, which will be coached by Daily Herald sportswriter Neil Warner. Lone Peak crushed Riverton 68-43 on Saturday to win the title.
They will be joined by Pioneers Todd Lynsky and Tyler Jenson.
Chris Collinsworth, who is also a candidate for the state’s Mr. Basketball, joins Provo teammate Sean Thornton on the South team. Provo knocked off Region 7 rival Payson 53-47 for the 4A title on Saturday. The South All-Stars will be coached by former Weber State standout Jimmy DeGraffenried and his brother, Phil, who set 3-point shooting records at UVSC. Both are Payson assistant coaches.
The South girls will be led by Aubrey Reeves, Kelden Wright and Karlee Weight of 4A state champion Timpview. The South team will be coached by Provo’s Cory Green.
The North team will be headed by Lone Peak’s Keith Flood and will include Lehi representatives Kiley Wardwell and Alexis Stadel.
The Utah Valley All-Star Basketball Classic is scheduled for Tuesday at Timpview High School. The annual event features the top senior players in the Utah Valley and proceeds from the Classic are donated back into the community. This year’s recipient is the Crandall Historical Printing Museum in Provo.
The girls game is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the boys game begins at 8 p.m. A slam dunk competition is scheduled for halftime of the girls game and a 3-point shooting contest for the girls will be held at halftime of the boys contest.
The Utah Valley All-Star Classic is sponsored by the Daily Herald, Karl Thalman and Check City. Tickets to the game are sold at the door. Adults are $4, a family pass is $10, 12-and-under are $1 and students are $2.
