SPORTS Nolan Haycock
Spanish Fork is well known for its amazing class of wrestlers. One of these is Nolan Haycock, a sophomore at Spanish Fork High School. Nolan has recently won the Rocky Mountain Nationals, where people from all fifty states came to compete in Denver, Colorado. In Nolan’s weight class there were more than eighty other wrestlers. This is the biggest tournament he has ever wrestled in.
To prepare for this he had to start by losing weight. The weight class Nolan wrestles in is the 123 lb. bracket. He had to eat healthy and drink lots of water, and then he had to run to lose all the water weight to make it into his weight class. The championship match was against a kid from Nebraska, whom he beat in order to take the National Title.
Nolan has been wrestling since kindergarten, and now he will have the chance to wrestle in college. Along with this title, Nolan has also won State twice in free style wrestling, taken State once in Greco style wrestling, and has taken sixth in the Western Regionals 2 years ago in Greco.
Along with wrestling, Nolan also runs cross country, track, and is in ballroom dance. He is the son of Lyle and Tammy Haycock.
