By Press Release - | Jun 10, 2008

Snowbird, Utah – Summer fun officially begins at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort, Friday, June 13, with the 11 a.m. opening of a new 24-foot, four-station climbing wall and additional summer activities. Father’s Day celebrations will take place Sunday, June 15, and the resort will turn the lifts for skiing and riding Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 13-15, conditions permitting. “With a name like Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort we’re pretty excited about being able to offer both summer activities and lift-serviced skiing at the same time,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. “It’s hard to imagine there is any better way to celebrate a holiday weekend.”

Snowbird’s All-Day Activities Pass includes unlimited, daily use of the new four-station climbing wall, Aerial Tram, Alpine Slide, ZipRider, Bungy Trampoline, Peruvian Chairlift and Tunnel, Mechanical Bull and Inflatables. The Peruvian Chairlift and Tunnel and horseback and ATV tours in Mineral Basin are scheduled to begin Fourth of July weekend, conditions permitting. Summer hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and early summer season operations will be limited due to heavy snowpack.

Other summer activities at Snowbird include hiking, fishing, mountain scooters, mountain biking, a 12-story climbing wall, the Cliff Spa, patio dining, the Cool Air Concert Series with free weekend concerts, Folk and Bluegrass festival (July 11-13), Rock and Blues festival (Aug. 1-2) and Oktoberfest.

Sunday, June 15, Snowbird’s Father’s Day festivities include brunch at the Atrium in the Cliff Lodge and a barbeque on the Snowbird Center Plaza Deck. The Father’s Day Atrium Brunch runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $29.95 for adults and $16.95 for children ages 6-12. For reservations, call (801) 933-2181. The Father’s Day Barbeque runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $18.95 for adults and $10.95 for children. Both the barbeque and the Atrium brunch feature live music and include a free Aerial Tram ride to the top of Hidden Peak.

Snowbird will be open for skiing and riding Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 13-15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Aerial Tram, Little Cloud Chairlift and Mineral Basin Express lifts will operate, servicing advanced and expert terrain only. The spring lift ticket price is $59 per day and tickets will be sold at the Snowbird Center only, accessed by Snowbird Entry 2. Additional weekend spring skiing after June 15 will be determined by weather and snow conditions.

Snowbird summer lodging packages including accommodations and an All-Day Activities Pass begin as low as $75 per person, based on double occupancy. Call (800) 453-3000 for more information or to book a reservation.
