Sandy was born September 19, 1937 in Orem, UT to Max and Edith Pedersen in the little bungalow behind Max’s blacksmith shop. She married the love of her life, Dean Bristow, on May 10, 1963.
Numerous family members and friends gathered around this gifted, warmhearted, and selfless woman during the last weeks of her life. Sandy was an artist with fabrics, cakes, and music. Proud of her Icelandic heritage, she was an attendant to the Icelandic Queen and an attendant to Miss Orem in 1959. A graduate of Lincoln High School, she performed with the LHS Tigerettes. Sandy belonged to the Val Norn Sorority and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. She taught third grade in Mesa, AZ and Salt Lake City before serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Florida from 1961 to 1963. She was a member of the Utah Valley Quilters Association, Utah Valley Spinners, Payson Civic Chorale, Junior Cultus Club in Payson, and a hospital volunteer at Mountain View Hospital.
Sandy asked that her love and appreciation be expressed to the members of Mountain View second ward, Mountain View Hospital Continuing Care Unit, home health nurse, Jane Metler, Shannon Newton and Alpine Hospice for their kindness and caring attention.
She is survived by her husband, Dean; four children, Christi Petrucka (James), Catherine Bristow, Dana Mutch, and Michael Bristow (Angela); nine grandchildren, Ben and Kaleigh Mutch, Isaac, Thomas, and Elizabeth Petrucka, Alea, Camryn, Dean, and Katelyn Bristow; one sister Carol Miller (Norm); and one brother Dahrl Pedersen.
