Beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-grandfather and most important title of Caregiver, Claude Darren Newton, age 88 of Payson, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013. He was born November 23, 1924 in Mona, Utah to Claud Eugene and Ella Kay Newton. He married Vera Montague, October 6, 1948 in Pioche, Nevada. She preceded him in death July 25, 2002.

Claude attended Mona and Nephi schools and went on to complete his education as a mechanic at Utah Trade Technical College. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked: on the Railroad: also as a miner; worked at Thermoid in Nephi and then worked for over 30 years at Pacific States Pipe Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying and was a member of the Spanish Fork Flying Club for years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include: his children, Craig (Laura), Guy Ellis (Terry), Cory (Janean) Newton, all of Payson; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Clyde Lee (Beverly) Newton, Salt Lake; Owen Lynn (Nick) Newton and Elaine Argyle Newton, all of Mona. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Ervin Eugene Newton, Wayne Ellis Newton and Oma Mern Newton Ulmer.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 17, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, where friends may call 9:30-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the American Legion, Dist. #4.
