Paul Davis

Dr. Clayton Paul Davis of Springfield, VA, formerly of Lehi, UT passed away at his home of colon cancer on April 30, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Provo, UT on November 4th, 1979, the oldest child of Kenneth Blaine and Shirleen Jones Davis. He lived in Pingree, ID and Orem, UT until his family moved to Lehi in 1993. Clay graduated from Lehi High School, where he was on the wrestling team and a Foreign Language Sterling Scholar. He served a mission for the LDS church in Lisbon, Portugal, and Cape Verde, West Africa.

He married his sweetheart and best friend, Hayley Russon, in the Mt. Timpanogos temple on May 23rd, 2002. They have 5 beautiful children together.

Clay graduated Cum Laude from BYU with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering, and from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a PhD in Computational Electromagnetics. He was employed by Raytheon-UTD, where he was a Senior Physics Engineer II with Honors. Clay was a gifted scientist and mathematician and loved the research he did at UTD, winning several awards for his work.

Clay held many church callings, mainly serving with the young men and the missionaries. He was especially happy to be serving as a scoutmaster when his son started cub scouts. One of his greatest joys in life was serving his Heavenly Father.

But above all, Clay was an amazing husband and father, and his family will miss him dearly. He is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Hayley Russon Davis; their son, Taylor Clayton (10); their daughters, Kyleigh Anne (8), Greta Meredyth (6), Ivy Gene (4), and Hazel Lyllian (1). Clay is also survived by his father, Ken (Dalene) Davis; his siblings Adam (Dawn), Ryan (Sara), Andrew, and Angela Davis; his in-laws; Kevin and Sheree Russon; Jamee (Jimmy) Fuller, Bryce (Stephanie) Russon, and Brady (Katie) Russon; his grandfather, Arthur (Bonnie) Jones of Blackfoot, ID. Preceded in death by his mother Shirleen, grandmothers Ina Davis, Helen Jones, and JoAnne Jones; grandfather, Raymond Davis.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 4th at 11 AM at the Annandale Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3900 Howard Street, Annandale, VA, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
