Tuitui “Tui” Moea’i was born on January 4, 1946 in Faleniu, American Samoa. Tui was raised in Laie, Hawaii where he attended Kahuku High School. Tui served in the US Air Force and later received an education degree from the Church College of Hawaii (CCH). At CCH, he met his future wife, Ann Cooper. They were married in 1969 in the Laie Hawaii LDS Temple. In 1972, Tui accepted a teaching position at Pleasant View School in California where, for over a decade, he developed a great love for his work and his students. He also spent two years as the principal of Manua High School in American Samoa. Tui enjoyed many years of playing, coaching and refereeing sports; fishing; and spending time with his family. Tui was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith helped him overcome many obstacles including a 40 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Tui passed away on February 25, 2014 in Orem, Utah. Tui is survived by his wife, Ann, and children Mark Moeai (Ofa), Renee Kalaniuvalu (Alai), David Moeai (Rebecca), Richard Moeai (GeAnna), Ashley Sooto (Vic), and Evan Moeai (Samantha Knight, fiance). He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Lynn; his parents Tuitui and Tausagafou Moea’i; and, siblings Paki, Fia, Joe, and Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the Lakeview Stake Center at 400 West 1800 South in Orem, UT on Saturday, March 1st at 11am with a viewing one hour prior.
