Jack Shirl Cooper

1940-2015

Jack Shirl Cooper, 74, of Mapleton, returned to his Heavenly Father February 6, 2015 in Provo. Jack was born April 10, 1940, in Murray, Utah to Andrew Henrick and Melva Johnson Cooper. He attended Orem and Lincoln High Schools and was a Track star and set multiple records for high hurdles.

He started his own construction company at age 21. Through years of hard work and perseverance he turned his business into a very successful company. This allowed him to spend time doing what he enjoyed most, spending time with his large family, especially traveling in his RV or going on trips. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating, horses, family BBQs, and loved the view of Maple Mountain from his back patio.

He was a very loving man that was very caring and generous to all he knew. He was a very happy and fun loving person with a great sense of humor. He was a beloved man that will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family loves him and are so thankful to have been blessed to share this life with him.

He married his high school sweetheart Jeri Jacob from which he had 4 beautiful children, he is survived by 3, Cindy (Rick) Rasmussen, Debbie Cooper, Lance (Katie) Cooper, his was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Cristy Cooper. Later he married Jolene Cooper and had 2 wonderful children, Cody (Melissa) Cooper and Haeli (Shaun Stickney) Cooper and is survived by both. He later married Pattie Cooper and is survived by his step-children Holly (Kennen) Thatcher, Shad (Jenny) Hansen. He is survived by 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and his beloved dogs Woody and Shorty. He is also survived by his sisters, Coleen Woodhouse and Elaine (Mark) Farrer and extended family member Jack Pottorf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Melva Cooper, sister, Deanne Jensen, and brother-in-law, Kent Woodhouse.

Funeral Services will be Friday, February 13, 2015, 11 a.m. in the Mapleton Stake Center, 970 North 400 East, Mapleton. Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 6-8 pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, or Friday morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
