If your kids haven’t had the chance to make a snowman this year, try out one of these hand-crafted ones from the warmth of your own home. 

These snowmen are fun for kids of all ages and can be made from items found around your home.

Paper Plate Snowman

This snowman is simple to make and gives your child something he or she can play with for days.

Supplies:

• 2 regular-sized paper plates
• 1 dessert-sized paper plate
• buttons
• 2 popsicle sticks
• a piece of ribbon about 8 inches long
• pens or markers
• glue or tape

1. The dessert plate will be the face, and the two regular-sized plates make the snowman’s body. If you want, you can use a hole punch to make holes in the paper plates where they meet and use ribbon to attach the three pieces.

2. Add ribbon around the bottom of the dessert-sized paper plate using glue or double-sided tape to make a scarf.

3. Glue or use double-sided tape to fix three buttons to one of the regular-sized paper plates.

4. Draw a face on the dessert-sized paper plate and decorate as your child wants.

Marshmallow Snowman Scene

Every kid can draw a snowman, but why not let him create his own snowman while eating a fun snack? If you have a kid like mine, you will just have to be careful that he doesn’t eat the marshmallows with the glue on them!

Supplies:

• marshmallows
• paper (not white)
• white paint
• markers
• glue

1. Layout the marshmallows flat on the paper in a snowman shape. Glue each marshmallow in place with a small dot of glue.

2. Use the markers to decorate your snowman. Give him eyes, a carrot nose, a mouth, a top hot, a scarf, buttons, arms or anything else you want to.

3. Finger paint a snowy ground under the snowman and snowflakes in the sky around your snowman.

Glue Blob Snowman

This snowman is a quick and easy project for older kids. Make several and hang them with fishing line or string along a window for a fun winter look in your home!

Supplies:

• hot glue
• hot glue gun
• buttons, beads or any kind of decoration to make a mouth
• glitter
• wax paper

1. Spread hot glue onto your wax paper in a circle about 2- to 4-inches wide. This is your snowman. (You are making a face only.)

2. Before the glue dries, use your decorations to make a face on your snowman.

3. Sprinkle glitter on the face of your snowman.

4. Allow to dry. Peel wax paper off of glue. Poke a hole in the top of your snowman’s face and string fishing line through to hang.
