Seminary and institute teachers honored
Utah Valley Central Area honors the following seminary and institute teachers.
Richard Scott retired after 37 years teaching seminary in Tempe and Snowflake, Ariz., and Spanish Fork as well as institute at the Orem Institute of Religion. Richard and wife, Janice, have 13 children and 42 grandchildren. They are presently serving a CES mission at Southern Virginia University.
Keith Longmore has served 30 years teaching seminary in Washington and Oregon and is presently teaching institute at the Orem Institute of Religion. Keith and his wife, Karen, have five children and three grandchildren.
Mark Spencer has served 30 years teaching seminary in Las Vegas, Nev., institute at Provo College and Orem Institute of Religion as well as director of Pleasant Grove Institute. He continues to teach institute and is also the technology specialist at Orem Institute. Mark and his wife, Christine, have two children.
Ryan Eggett has served 20 years teaching seminary in Orem, directing the Latter-day Celebration Choir at the Orem Institute of Religion and directing the MTC Choir. Ryan and his wife, Angela, have six children.
Andrew Horton has served 20 years teaching seminary in Mountain View and Pleasant Grove high schools, worked in the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City and is presently the seminary principal at Mountain View High School seminary. Andrew and his wife, Stephanie, have six children.
Shawn Hunt has served 20 years teaching seminary in Coalville and Ogden and then in Indianapolis, Ind.; he also worked in the Church Office Building. He presently works as a preservice trainer in Orem. Shawn and his wife, Amanda, have five children.
Utah Valley North Area honors the following seminary and institute teachers.
Gary Mason Vanderhoef is retiring after teaching seminary for 30 years in Evanston, Wyo.; Pleasant Grove, Lehi, American Fork and Lone Peak high schools. He also taught in the Homebound Seminary most recently. He and his wife, Susan, have six married children and 14 grandchildren. (not pictured)
Charlie Brown has served 30 years teaching seminary at Taylorsville, Olympus, West and American Fork senior high schools as well as Highland, Oak Canyon and Alpine junior high schools. He and his wife, Diane, have seven children and seven grandchildren.
Justin Harper has served 20 years teaching seminary at Woods Cross, Alta, Juan Diego, Butler, Murray, Westlake, Rockwell and Lone Peak high schools. He and his wife, Anne, have eight children.
Shawn Healey has served 20 years teaching seminary in Nevada and Timpanogos high schools and American Fork junior high school as well as institute in Nevada and American Fork. He and his wife, Cindy, have three children.
Chris Powell has served 20 years teaching seminary in Cottonwood, Alta, Pleasant Grove and American Fork high schools as well as Alpine junior high school. He and his wife, Kristen, have five children.
Doug Wilcox has served 20 years teaching seminary in Yuma, Ariz., and the junior and senior high schools of Lehi. He’s also worked in the Utah Valley North Area office. He and his wife, Laurie, have five children.
