5 ways to have fun with your family in Utah County this week

Utah County is a great place for family fun, with events across the valley for all ages.

Here are five fun events that are perfect for the whole family this week:

Watch a play

Though there are perpetually theater productions popping up across Utah County, not all of them are as optimized for family members of all ages as the Covey Youth Theater’s musical presentation of “Hansel and Gretel,” coming to the Covey Center for the Arts on Wednesday. Tickets to the creative take on the classic tale are $6-$8 with details at http://coveycenter.org.

When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday

Go to a Family Fun Night

When it comes to family-centric fun, there’s literally no better thing to do this week than head to Eagle Mountain’s Pony Express Days Family Fun Night. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature a zip line, obstacle course, bounce houses, playground, go karts, free popcorn and cotton candy, games and more, followed by an outdoor showing of “Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

When: Family Fun Night will run 4-8 p.m. Wednesday with the movie starting at 9 p.m.

Where: Nolen Park, 7862 Tinamous Road in Eagle Mountain

Head to Vineyard’s Heritage Celebration

The city of Vineyard is celebrating its 30-year anniversary with a two-day Heritage Celebration featuring a carnival, fireworks, The Strike in concert, pioneer-era activities, a movie in the park and more.

When: 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Where: Vineyard Grove Park, 350 N. 100 East in Vineyard

Celebrate Utah Lake

One of the best things about warmer weather is the chance to head outside and enjoy all the beautiful things the Utah Valley has to offer, including Utah Lake, which you can do at the Utah Lake Festival this weekend.

This year’s festival will feature activities such as boat rides, free swag, a sailboat regatta, live music, food trucks, free fishing instruction and more. Park entrance is free, and the festival will include a series of informational booths and the chance to win a variety of prizes.

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday

Where: Utah Lake State Park, 4400 W. Center St. in Provo

Enjoy a luau

Experience the enchantment of Fire Knife Dancers, learn authentic Polynesian dances, enjoy delicious exotic drink, get an airbrush tattoo or participate in a variety of games and concerts for a chance to win prizes at University Place’s Summer Luau Kick Off this weekend.

When: 7-9 p.m. Saturday

Where: University Place, 575 E. University Parkway in Orem
