Utah Valley Living: 3 events to check out this week (Aug. 2-10)

By Staff | Aug 2, 2025

The full Utah Valley calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:

1. National Night Out Against Crime

Various locations throughout Utah Valley, Aug. 5

The first Tuesday in August is right around the corner and that means it’s time to break down some barriers between citizens and police. Night Out Against Crime is an annual event designed to increase public awareness of crime prevention, build bridges between law enforcement and the community. Millions take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities throughout the country on the first Tuesday of August in most areas of the country. National Night Out sends a message that neighbors are united and working together to keep their communities and each other safe.

2. Utah County Fair

Cultural dance groups perform during the World FolkFest celebration at the SCERA theater in Orem on Monday, May 15, 2023.

Spanish Fork Fairgrounds, Spanish Fork, Aug. 2

The motto of the 2025 Utah County Fair is “We’ve got a good thing growin’!” As always, the fair provides activities and entertainment for the whole family. The combination of exciting events like the demolition derby and rodeo with opportunities to support local business and presenters along with the carnival rides and food options makes this an event where everyone can go have a great time — and Saturday is the final day to enjoy it.

3. World Folkfest

Springville Arts Park, Springville, Aug. 2

Here’s what to look forward to for this amazing annual event (according to WorldFolkfest.org): “Cultural dance groups from all over the world are traveling to Utah this summer to share their traditions and heritage through the art of folk dance. Explore the wonders of the world in a single day in a vibrant celebration of diversity, unity and fun. Enjoy unique performances, traditional costumes, live music, global food trucks, photo-ops, kids activities, giveaways, and much more.”
