Utah Valley Living: 3 events to check out this week (Dec. 27-Jan. 4)

By Staff | Dec 27, 2025

The full Utah Valley calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:

1. Pond Town Christmas

Salem City Pond, Salem, Dec. 27-Jan. 1, 5:30-11 p.m.

It’s the final days for the annual holiday light shows and so it might be a chance to check out one you haven’t seen yet. One good option is to head south to Salem to enjoy the beautiful Pond Town Christmas. Utah’s Adventure Family described it on their website (utahsadventurefamily.com) by saying: “We love the unique Christmas light display down in Salem, which is northeast of Payson in Utah County. They have a small pond in the middle of town, and they display Christmas trees on the water. The Salem Pond lights reflecting off the water are beautiful in the Pond Town Christmas display.”

2. Johnson Files Christmas Show

Covey Center for the Arts, Provo, Dec. 29-30, 7:30 p.m.

Christmas itself may be over but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy more holiday-based shows, like the improv performance playing at the Covey Center for the Arts on Dec. 29-30. The event’s website says: “Get in the Christmas spirit with a night of completely improvised comedy, built entirely from audience suggestions. Shaun Johnson, creator of The Johnson Files, and his hilarious friends create a brand-new show every time, bringing quick wit, big laughs, and plenty of festive surprises. It’s a family-friendly evening of spontaneous holiday fun you’ll never see the same way twice.”

For a chance to mix some holiday spirit in with the immensity of space at the Deck the Dome Holiday Laser Show at the Christa McAuliffe Space Center in Pleasant Grove. The center’s website says, “Immerse yourself in the dazzling effects of our laser light shows while listening to some of music’s greatest hits.
