1. Orson Scott Card Author Event
Barnes & Noble Orem, Feb. 13, 5 p.m.
Meeting an author of numerous well-known books including some icons in their field is a treat for any reading enthusiast, and so this chance to meet fantasy/sci-fi legend Orson Scott Card isn’t one to miss. The store website says: “Come Join us with author Orson Scott Card! He is not only the legendary, multiple award-winning author of Ender’s Game, he has been a Writers of the Future contest judge since 1994. He will be in store signing his books, along with copies of Writers of the Future Volume 41. Come and get your favorite book signed!”

2. Lindon Country Hoedown

Get up and get dancing — cowboy boots not required, although they certainly would fit in — as Lindon hosts a party to celebrate in classic Utah style. The city website says: “Dust off yer boots and join Lindon Parks & Recreation for a free, family friendly classic Country Hoedown! Enjoy line dancing led by some of Lindon’s best country dancers, games, crafts, and tasty treats for all ages! Don’t miss out on helping our Little Miss Lindon contestants as they complete a service project in preparation for their pageant.”

3. Payson City Innovation Center Open House and Ribbon Cutting
Payson City Innovation Center, Feb. 12, 4-8 p.m.
So many times one of the biggest challenges to turning business ideas into realities is not having the right opportunities or equipment. Payson is aiming to change that with its new innovation center. The city website says: “Payson City Innovation Center: Your Home for Ideas Payson City, in partnership with MTECH, is excited to introduce the Innovation Center — a space designed to help new businesses grow and thrive. The center is an incubator for startups and entrepreneurs, providing access to tools and spaces that turn ideas into reality. What’s inside: 3D printers, office and conference spaces, embroidery machines, podcast room and much more.
