By Staff | Feb 14, 2026

The full Utah Valley calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:

1. Valentine’s Ball

Provo City Library, Feb. 14, 6-9 p.m.

There are many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day but one of the classics is to get dressed up and go to a ball. One of the places to be is at the Provo Library, which has its Valentine’s Ball which includes a catered dinner, live music and dancing with CB Jazz, and a rose for each couple.

Revelers kick off Lunar New Year

Celebrators kick off Chinatown's firecracker and cultural rain-soaked ceremony, signaling the Lunar New Year and the year of the rat, Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, in New York.

Other Valentine’s dances are taking place in Lehi and American Fork, or if you are looking for other options there is the Valentine’s Day Train in Heber and the Valentine’s Day Stoplight Skate at Classic Skating in Orem.

For more information, go to provolibrary.gov.

2. 2026 Lunar New Year Celebration and Fireworks

University Place Orem, Feb. 17, 6 p.m.

For another holiday celebration, go to University Place Orem to recognize the Lunar New Year. The event website says “Come celebrate the 2026 Lunar New Year, the year of the Horse! The Horse’s symbolism as part of The Lunar New Year is strength, freedom, energy and success. People born in the year of the horse are believed to be adventurous, warm-hearted and independent. Lion Dances are a traditional part of the celebration of the New Year and symbolize power, wisdom and bring prosperity and good luck to the New Year. During the Lion Dance it is considered lucky if one is touched by a lion. If you would like some extra luck for the new year, “feeding” the lion with a lucky red envelope is supposed to bring good luck and is also considered a donation for the martial arts troupe setting up the performance.”

Sage Canyon Middle School, Eagle Mountain, Feb. 19-23, 7 p.m.

Many communities in Utah Valley have their own theater organizations, giving local actors a chance to shine on stage. One of the first shows in 2026 is taking place out in Eagle Mountain, with four performances of The Little Mermaid. The company’s website says, “EMCT is thrilled to present our production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. You don’t want to miss this family favorite! Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including ‘Under the Sea,’ ‘Kiss the Girl’ and ‘Part of Your World.'”
