Utah Valley Living: 3 events to check out this week (March 28-April 5)

By Staff | Mar 28, 2026

The full Utah Valley calendar of events is on L4, but here are three local events you should check out this week:

1. 2026 Holi Festival of Colors

Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple, Spanish Fork, March 28-29, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

It’s become one of the most iconic images of spring in Utah Valley as hundreds of people gather in Spanish Fork to toss colorful dust into the air in celebration of the changing season. The festival website says: “In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. The festival breathes an atmosphere of social merriment. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and throw their worries to the wind. Every nook and corner presents a colorful sight. Young and old alike are covered with colors (red, green, yellow, blue, pink, orange, violet, and more). People in small groups are seen singing, dancing and throwing colors on each other. Though liquid colors are used in India (where it’s warm) we prohibit them, as we don’t want anyone to catch cold on account of the festival.”

Steve Nelson, director and "mayor" of the village, talks to visitors Saturday, June 2, 2017, at the Provo Pioneer Village. ISAAC HALE, Daily Herald

3. Lehi’s Easter Eggstravaganza 2026

Osier Park, Lehi, March 28, 9 p.m.

Cities throughout the area are celebrating the holiday with their annual Easter Egg hunts, although they often have selected different days. Many are doing a night hunt on Friday and a regular hunt on Saturday. The city website says: “Join us for an egg-citing morning filled with thousands of eggs, fun mini-games, and a special visit from the Easter Bunny–ready for photos and high-fives! Every child gets to fill their basket! Hunts are divided into age groups to ensure a fun and fair experience for all.”

2. Provo Founders’ Day Event

Provo Pioneer Village, April 1, 5-8 p.m.

Everett Stevenson, 2, of Lehi, puts an egg into his basket as he along with other children and their parents scramble to gather eggs during an Easter egg hunt in 2017 at the Lehi Sports Park. Community Easter egg hunts abound this weekend.

For those who love the pranks of April Fools Day, there are some other event option. The first of April also happens to be the day Provo was founded, so for more of a historical celebration, head to Pioneer Village. The venue website says, “You’re invited to join us in celebrating the founding of our great Provo city on Wednesday, April 1st. The event will feature a special program at 6 p.m. with prominent Utah historian Robert Carter. He will be speaking on “The Sons and Daughters of Utah Pioneers Encourage a History Revival in Provo,” offering a unique look into why these landmarks were established and their historical significance to our community. Also on the program is the SUP 4th grade Essay Contest winner! Our musical guests, WireWood, will treat us all to some toe-tappin’ fiddling for a real good time!”
