This is a breakdown of Utah County cities and where they stand on pressurized irrigation. Things I’ve listed is:

* Cost per month per household on a quarter-acre lot.
* Comments.
NORTH COUNTY CITIES:
Alpine — Yes; started in fall 2000, finished early 2002; $8 million; 8,500; 1,800; $9.
Highland — Yes; finished in 1997; $11 million; 10,000; 2,200; $10 per month if developer gave water shares to the city, $21 if buying water from the city.
Cedar Hills — Yes; started in May 2003, should be finished by September 2003 ; $1.9 million; 6,000; currently 1,500, 2,750 when finished; $12.05.
Lehi — Yes; finished in 1990; $5 million; 21,000; 6,500; $10.42.
American Fork — No; public hearing scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to get public input; city engineer has done studies on the viability of installing pressurized irrigation. 23,000 population.
Pleasant Grove — Yes; started in 1999, not completed; $16 million; 25,000; 350 are currently on, 700 when finished; two years depending on funding; $15 per month.
Lindon — Yes; started in 1991, completed 1992, operational 1993; $3.4 million; 9,500; 2,300; $10 per month
Eagle Mountain — No; not started and not required, but some builders installing secondary water systems for pressurized irrigation if needed; 9,000.
Cedar Fort — No; Cedar Fort Irrigation Co. uses reclaimed pressurized water for agriculture; culinary water comes through ditch systems.
Saratoga Springs — Yes; started by developer in 1996 before chartered as a city, ongoing installation as city grows; $2 million; 5,000; 1,900 so far; $9.25; all new subdivision homes are supplied with secondary irrigation water.
CENTRAL COUNTY CITIES:
Orem — No; no secondary water system or plans to install one; population 87,000.
Provo — No; no secondary water system or plans to install one; study for 2001 Master Plan showed adequate supply of culinary water. Cost would be about $135 million short of being cost effective. Population .
Vineyard — No; uses wells and septic systems; not currently considering pressurized irrigation; population 150.
SOUTH COUNTY CITIES:
Springville — No; no secondary water system, except for businesses in the industrial park in the northwest area; 1994 and new Master Plans outline the possibility of using pressurized irrigation. 23,000.
Mapleton — Yes; started in 2001, not completed; more than $1 million ; 6,500; 2,150; $17 to $29. Infrastructure being installed as city grows.
Spanish Fork — Yes; started in 2000, finished in spring 2003; $16.2 million; 24,000; 7,000; $22.
Santaquin — Yes; started in 1996, completed in 1997; $4 million; 6,000; only one 150-acre farm using it; currently doing study to hook homes up within next seven years.
Salem — No; mayor and city engineer in the preliminary stages of looking into using pressurized irrigation. Population 4,500.
Woodland Hills — No; city uses underground wells, there’s no water treatment plant to convert water for secondary uses; South Utah County Water Users Assoc. doing studies for pressurized irrigation that may affect the city; Population 1,200.
Elk Ridge — No; no secondary water system; population 2,000; development in new city annexations will put in infrastructure for pressurized irrigation; hope to have system in within five to 10 years.
Payson — Yes; started in 1987, finished in 1989; $3.6 million; 16,000; about 5,500 homes; $9.
Goshen — Yes; started in 1996, construction phase begins in late summer and finished by Nov. 25; $1 million; Population 875; 300; cost undecided, but between $35 and $55 maintenance charge per month; homes without secondary water will have to pay the city for their shares of water; church, school, cemetery and ball park first places to be hooked up.
Genola — No; secondary water used for the city park, some residents use secondary water from the Strawberry Highline Canal running through residential areas and some have individual pressurized systems. Population 1,200.
