Boise State will rename Pavilion ‘Taco Bell Arena’

By The Associated Press - | Jun 18, 2004

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State University’s sports and events facility will bear the name “Taco Bell Arena” in exchange for $4 million in cash and other contributions from the fast-food restaurant franchise.

The State Board of Education on Thursday approved the 15-year sponsorship by the Boise-area franchise for the Pavilion, completed in 1982.

Taco Bell will put its logo on the exterior of all four entrances of the arena and on the sidelines of the basketball court.

“We have enjoyed a very positive relationship with the Athletic Department at Boise State since 2000, and we are confident this agreement will only strengthen it,” said Carl Nicolaysen, president of the local franchise. “We also believe this is a way we can give back to the community, and provide wonderful exposure for our company.”
