Dangerous streets

Nov 23, 2011

Recently while at the store I learned people do not care about the traffic signs. There is a roundabout over there and for some reason while the green light to turn into the store area was green cars continued to come even though I was waiting at one of the yield signs; so, about 10 cars were in the wrong for failure to yield.

Also, I would like to pray for the family who lost a son while riding his bike across the road. People not being as observant as possible can cause major problems on the roadways. Yesterday, while I was riding my bike around town, I was just off Main Street and a pedestrian sign with a walkway goes directly across the road. I waited for 10 minutes without a single car stopping to allow me to walk across the street. So, probably 100-200 cars did not obey this traffic sign, and the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists is a major problem when such traffic laws are ignored.

I hope those of you who don’t look for pedestrians or yield to bicyclists in crosswalks will look to become more aware of others without being so caught up in where you are going to take two seconds and look both ways for pedestrians, obey the laws, and show the true kindness that people should have for others.
