The season opens

Oct 27, 2011

Well, here it is again, murder season (otherwise known as hunting season), when normally intelligent people go a killing spree of God’s beautiful, innocent creatures. How they could possibly have a conscience, and do such a thing, is beyond me. The only reason is man’s basest instinct — to kill for the thrill of it. Maybe it’s that power over life and death thing. What ever the reason, it’s sick.

It’s a known fact that it’s always cheaper to go to the store and buy your meat, instead of the cost of a gun, ammunition, 4-wheel drive truck, fuel, camping equipment, food, license fee, special clothing and gear.

Ya, I’ve heard all the lame and pathetic excuses like “it’s just a chance to get out in the mountains with the family and enjoy the out of doors.” Well, that’s OK with me. Sit around the camp fire, go for a hike, have a good time, but please don’t kill the beautiful animals of the forest. Besides, what did any of them do to you, to deserve you snuffing out their lives? They, like you, just want to live and enjoy life.
