I personally went out with my brother-in-law who has a central permit, in an area where 20 years ago you could have seen deer on nearly every ridge. We covered a lot of country, hunting and glassing, and saw only one doe. The DWR blames disease and loss of habitat for the decrease in our deer herds, and yes we have lost a lot of winter range along the Wasatch Front. But, from the Juab County line south, the deer range has been relatively unchanged for the past 50 years, and there are no deer.

The west desert has more water and feed this year than I ever remember seeing in the past, but you can find very few deer, if any. In my opinion, I blame only one thing for the devastating loss of our wildlife, not disease, not loss of habitat, but the DWR and their mismanagement of our wildlife. I would like to hear some input from other sportsmen on this subject.
