Piano donation warrants grand accolades
OREM — SCERA Center for the Arts was recently the recipient of a grand gift.
Randy Burnham, owner of Piano Gallery, noticed that the Orem arts center was in dire need of a quality concert grand piano. However, working with Adam Robertson, CEO of SCERA, it became clear there wasn’t a budget to support the center’s need for such a lavish instrument.
Working together and with the generous help of two local Orem residents, Brad Jackman and Jack Hadley, and a monetary match by Piano Gallery, SCERA received a new Yamaha concert grand piano last month.
An instrument of this quality will now allow SCERA to continue to produce and host some of the best national and local artists at the venue, without always needing to borrow or rent one. It’s a great gift to SCERA, but more importantly to the community.
This is an example of how private businesses can partner with local citizens for the benefit of the community, Burnham said.
“SCERA is a treasure and I encourage others to support it,” he saaid. “Some of my earliest memories are standing in line on the front porch waiting to get in to see the newest Disney movie, as a kid. It’s nice to pay it forward.”
The Piano Gallery is now hosting a sale at SCERA with all proceeds benefiting the nonprofit arts center. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.
For more information about the sale or on any of SCERA’s current productions, concerts or arts education program, log on to SCERA.org or call (801) 225-ARTS.
