With the Christmas season in full force, YouTube prankster Stuart Edge stepped back from his usually comical video stream to point out an important fact about the holiday season: sometimes the best gifts aren’t received, but given.

Edge’s video, titled ”Deserving Family Get Christmas Makeover,” serves as Day 8 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ “12 Days of Social.”

According to Mormon.org on Facebook, “The 12 Days of Social” is a unique way to focus on Jesus Christ during the Christmas season, featuring 12 LDS YouTube stars’ interpretations of the message #ASaviorIsBorn.

From Dec. 1 on, Mormon.org has featured different YouTube stars as they not only share their talents through music and the spoken word, but also offer their fans a unique testimony of Jesus Christ, with YouTubers so far including Alex Boye, Jenny Oaks Baker, Lexi Walker and the Gardiner Sisters.

The campaign continues through Dec. 12, with a special collaboration of “Silent Night” set to be released Dec. 13.

Edge’s participation in the campaign came as he teamed with his family, friends and local businesses to provide a Christmas for a family who had been dealing with the devastating loss of their husband and father. Set to return home for their first Christmas without him, the video shows volunteers hanging lights, replacing the dishwasher, decorating the interior, setting up a tree, and even, toward the end, providing the means for a monument for the grave of their loved one, something the family had not yet been able to afford.

The video wraps up with Christmas carolers and a firm testimony from Edge himself.

“I really love the Christmas season because it helps remind me more of Jesus Christ,” Edge said at the end of the video. “Because of Him, I’m able to change and become a better person every single day and become the person that he would want me to be.”

Edge also detailed a little more the process of making the video in the comments on YouTube, and explained the message he hoped viewers would take away.

“This was a very personal video to do, not just for me, but for Jenn and her family as well,” he wrote. “It can be hard to put something so emotional out into the world, especially the internet. I hope that this story inspires you to keep pushing through the struggles you may be going through, and to know, there is hope out there for you. You may need to wait a few days, or maybe even a few years, but time will heal all things, and I also believe that if you turn to God, He will heal things greater than you could’ve ever imagined.”
