Some schools canceled, power restored in Eagle Mountain
About a third of Eagle Mountain was in the dark Monday morning following a blow from the winter storm passing through Utah County.
According to Rocky Mountain Power’s website, about 8,000 customers in Eagle Mountain and the neighboring community of Cedar Fort went without power Monday morning.
The website said a “transmission interruption” was the cause of the outage. Paul Murphy, spokesman for Rocky Mountain Power, said it is similar to a breaker system in a home.
“If something goes out in one area, it shuts off everything,” he said.
According to Eagle Mountain’s Twitter feed, power was restored at about 11:30 a.m.
Public schools in Alpine School District were still in session Monday, however, Ranches Academy was closed. Additionally, Lakeview Academy students were dismissed early at 12:30 p.m. Monday, with a snow day scheduled for Tuesday.
