By Stacy Johnson daily Herald - | Sep 7, 2015

Crews worked to rescue a woman who was injured while hiking Monday evening near American Fork Canyon.

According to Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, search and rescue crews and two medical helicopters were sent to help rescue a 23-year-old woman who had a medical issue while hiking at about 4:30 p.m.

The medical helicopters had to hoist the woman from the area, as it was in an area with cliffs that was difficult to access.

Crews were able to get the woman off the mountain at about 6:15 p.m. The woman, a BYU student from California, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
