Water spills out of a crack in an eight inch water pipe near the corner of 300 S. and 500 W. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in Payson.
Some Payson residents were without water service for about four hours Wednesday after a water line was damaged at about 10:30 a.m. near 300 S. 500 West.
The water line was damaged by a construction contractor, said Payson Fire Rescue Chief Scott Spencer, but crews had fixed the water break by about 2:30 p.m.
There was no damage to any homes.
“There were two houses we were worried about, but we got on that,” said Brent Arns, assistant engineer with the city.
A section of about four feet had a crack in an eight-inch plastic pipe that was cut out and replaced by the city’s water department. The water coming out of the crack was pumped out and into the storm drains.
