Santo: Palos Verdes will go long way to preserve quality of life
Proposition 5 allows for a zone change to take effect on 9.58 acres surrounded by Utah Valley University, which then allows for the construction of Palos Verdes Apartments. By concentrating student population density near the University, Orem city will see traffic and safety improvements and a new development designed for our growth.
When builders work to incorporate ALL forms of transportation in their design, it helps reduce the overall number of vehicles on the road. The developer has gone beyond their duty to promote safety and minimize traffic impacts to the adjacent neighborhoods. Palos Verdes is designed to be an attractive place to live, will encourage pedestrian, bike and transit use and contributes to the notion that you don’t NEED a car to live, learn, or labor in Orem.
Change is hard. Orem has more retrofitting to do to maintain and improve the quality of life for our residents. There’s no arguing that it’s already a GREAT place to live. We’ve won awards! As we continue through this growth phase, developments like Palos Verdes that are pedestrian-friendly and promote active/alternate transportation will go a long way in preserving our quality of life.
