Former Spanish Fork teacher sentenced to prison for sexual abuse of a student
An Orem woman who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a student is headed to prison.
Sarah Lewis, a former Landmark High School teacher, was serving a three-year probation after pleading guilty to a third-degree felony of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
But she was arrested twice this summer for drug possession.
Due to this, Judge Kraig Powell of the 4th District Court revoked her probation Wednesday and sentenced her to the original term of zero to five years in prison.
Lewis will serve at least 32 months in prison, according to Craig Johnson, Utah County deputy attorney. She is also facing drug charges and if found guilty, she could face at least another 12 months of jail time, Johnson explained.
Lewis, 29, was initially arrested in January 2017 on suspicion of providing a male student with alcohol and engaging in sexual activity with him. A second student came forward alleging sexual activity with Lewis.
Lewis was arrested twice for meth possession in July on suspicion of selling meth out of her car in Utah County and again in August for possession in her Orem residence. In the July incident, police officers found she had 12 ounces of meth and other paraphernalia in her car.
She is facing two counts of drug possession with intent to distribute, both second-degree felonies, and possession of drug paraphernalia, class B misdemeanors. Her pretrial conference for those charges is set for Oct. 22.
