Becki, Brandon and their children have suffered some significant challenges during the past year due to allowing someone into their home and into their lives. Because of the challenges, Christmastime, normally happy and festive, is proving to be difficult and challenging.

“We let someone into our home that wasn’t a good person and my family paid the price for it,” Becki said. “My husband and I ended up going to jail for a little over a month for someone else’s wrongdoings.”

Because of this, the family lost their home and much of what they owned. They are currently fighting the charges brought against them and are both seeking employment. Both parents are in substance abuse treatment programs and the family is living with Brandon’s father.

Becki said that the Sub for Santa program is such a blessing. They hope to get help through the program this year so that their children are able to get more than one gift for Christmas.

“As an adult, the gifts aren’t necessarily important. But for a kid, that’s everything,” she said.

Nathan, age nine, is in need of pants, socks and boxers. He enjoys reading action, mystery and comedy books. Other gifts that he would enjoy include Halo and Fortnite action figures. Nathan’s favorite color is blue.

Ian, who is almost four years old, needs pants, shirts and underwear. His favorite color is lime green and he likes to read alphabet and counting books. He would love some Lego gifts for Christmas.

“It breaks our hearts to know we are struggling to even get through the day sometimes,” Becki said. “It would mean the world to us if they even received the smallest of gifts.”
