Local music and family fun will come together in Orem Friday and Saturday at the 5th annual Come Together Rock Festival to be held at the Orem City Center Park pavilion and stage.
More than 20 local bands are expected to perform, along with vendors and booths who will host contests and giveaways totaling more than $1,000 worth of prizes, including an electric guitar and a computerized sewing machine.
The event will be held Friday from 2 to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The festival is described as a celebration of live music performances with support for local charities and a vision of building community unity.
Organizers say last year’s attendance was around 2,000 people, and they are ready to entertain many more in 2024.
Orem City and the Utah Live Concerts Foundation began collaborating on the festival in 2020 at the height of a tumultuous global pandemic.
New this year is a free community breakfast Saturday morning starting at 8:30 a.m. hosted by the Orem Neighborhood Commission as well as a fireworks show by Orem City. The event also features a farmers market, the Classic & Exotic Car Show and much more.
More than two dozen sponsors have donated funds to help keep the festival free to the public.
John Pilmer, board trustee with the Utah Live Concerts Foundation, said attendees will enjoy lots of classic rock music. Some of the bands set to perform have been together since the 1970s.
“How many (bands) can hold together that long? It blows me away,” Pilmer said.
A musician himself, Pilmer plays the bass guitar for the band Geneva Road. He often joins Moe Low, which is set to take the stage on Friday evening during the festival
“With over a hundred participating musicians, thousands of dollars in giveaway items, donations to charities, and cherished memories created for the entire family, our festivals have become a symbol of togetherness,” a press release stated.
This year’s sponsors include Best in Music, Dave’s Bernina, Jordan Camper, Minky Couture, Utopia Fiber, In-N-Out Burger, Texas Roadhouse, Trader Joes and Krispy Kreme.
