For a player of his standing and achievement, it would be fair to say that recent seasons have not played out quite as Russell Westbrook would have liked. His career has most definitely stuttered of late, and he has now been waived by the Utah Jazz and looks set to join the Denver Nuggets if the latest rumors are to be believed.

Westbrook was traded to the Jazz, with Kris Dunn moving to the Los Angeles Clippers, and now the nine-time NBA All-Star Pick, and 2017’s NBA MVP, is once again on his way to pastures new.

Nuggets fans who feel that the acquiring of a player of Westbrook’s undoubted ability could aid their push for another NBA Championship push, having won in 2022/23, can look to sweeten any wager by getting all the key info and offers beforehand and can see more here ahead of placing their bet.

Having become a free agent, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski believes a move to the Ball Arena is on the cards, where he is touted to help offer strength in depth to head coach Michael Malone.

Westbrook had a pretty poor time of it in his last campaign, his 16th in the NBA, starting just 11 games for the Clippers and putting in his lowest PPG average to date. However, that does not mean he still doesn’t have the ability to make an impact but clearly motivation is key.

After departing the Los Angeles Clippers, Westbrook was full of praise for the franchise, stating,

“Thank you to Mr. Ballmer and the entire Clippers organization for the opportunity. Clipper Nation, thank you! I had a lot of fun with you all, playing in the city that I love in front of my family and friends,”

“To all of my teammates, I thank you all for embracing me and supporting me for the past two years. To all of my fans! You guys don’t know how much your support means to me. Y’all keep me motivated and energized. I’ve got the most loyal and amazing fans in sports. Looking forward to seeing y’all next season!” He concluded.

It seems the feeling was very much mutual, with Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank stating,

“Russ is an all-time great, and we were fortunate to have him here,”

“He lifted the energy and intensity of the group. We look forward to seeing him continue his decorated career.”

Westbrook played with the Oklahoma City Thunder for eleven seasons after being drafted fourth overall in 2008. In nine of those 11 campaigns, he played a key role in taking the Chesapeake Energy Arena side to the NBA playoffs, including a run to the NBA Finals in 2011/12, which they lost to the Miami Heat in five games.

In 2019, he was traded to the Houston Rockets, and in 2020, he found himself at the Washington Wizards and then bounced around to the Los Angeles Lakers, where things soured, leading to his move to the Los Angeles Clippers, where it appears he fell back in love with the game.
