Her remains were located in an Alpine park, she was reported missing in Jan. 2024.Human remains that were discovered at a nature park last Friday in Alpine have been identified as a local woman who police say went missing in early 2024.
Through dental records, the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner’s Office were able to identify the skeletal remains that were found in Lambert Park as Gabrielle Makenna Shull, who was 24-years-old at the time she went missing, of Alpine, the Lone Peak Police Department said in a press release issued Wednesday morning.
According to police, Shull was reported as missing from her home in late January 2024. Despite numerous search efforts in and around Lambert Park among other locations around northern Utah County – efforts by her family members, friends, and authorities to find her were unsuccessful at the time.
“Although the forensic anthropology exam is not complete, foul play is not suspected at this time,” the department said in the release.
Though the discovery and identity confirmation marks the end of a nearly year-and-half search to find Shull, the Lone Peak Police Department offered their condolences to her family as they process the latest development.
Shull’s loved ones released a statement regarding the identification of the remains, and the work that has gone into locating her.
“Gabbie’s sweet personality has been and will continue to be greatly missed,” the family said. “Our family is so grateful her remains were found and also to the many, many people who helped in trying to find her.”
