Melanie wants to provide holiday magic for her three girls this year, but worries she does not have the means to do so.
She was recently displaced from her home for a month before finding a place and her rent takes up most of her income, making it unlikely she could provide Christmas for her family.
“I am working so hard to provide for my children and feel like I’m always falling short,” Melanie said.
Thanks to United Way, Melanie still has a chance to have Christmas this year through a Sub For Santa who will be matched with her family.
On the Christmas wish list for a her eldest daughter, 10-year-old Sandra, are jewelry kits and crafts, and fantasy books. Sandra also needs leggings, a hoodie and joggers.
Lexie, 5, would like Barbies, Hot wheels and anything Disney princess-related, and needs leggings, a long-sleeve shirt and a fleece jacket.
Mary, 2, is asking for baby dolls and any Mick Mouse-related books, and needs leggings, a long-sleeve shirt and pajamas.
