Sundance Mountain Resort is pictured Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025.Sundance Mountain Resort’s ski season will officially begin Saturday with limited terrain open.
The ski resort announced Thursday the adjusted opening day schedule after originally planning on opening Friday.
First chair at Jake’s Lift is at 8:45 a.m., and the Magic Carpet beginner area opens at 9 a.m.
Maverik, Outlaw Trail, Red Canyon and Magic Carpets areas will each be open Saturday, and more terrain will come available as conditions allow, the resort said. All skier services will operate out of the Mountain Camp Day Lodge, and the Lookout will not be open.
The delayed start time to the ski season comes due to a shortage of snow.
According to the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the snowpack at Timpanogos Divide on the Alpine Loop north of Sundance was at just 12% of its median level on Dec. 3. NRCS Data Collection Officer Jordan Clayton told the Daily Herald on Wednesday the water equivalent at the site was 0.4 inches, well short of the Dec. 3 average of 3.2 inches.
Sundance plans on introducing 60 acres of new terrain this season, including a new back-mountain run, Storyteller, which is an 1,800-vertical-foot groomed “double-blue” run, according to spokesperson Nick Como.
