Sub for Santa: Family on student budget needs Christmas help

William and Sandra’s financial situation is expected to improve once William completes his PhD program and enters the work force.
But for the time being, the parents of three children are reliant on a one-student income that meets their bare minimum needs.
That means Christmas gifts aren’t in the budget for the family, and without some extra help, 8-year-old Alexis and 4-year-old Spencer won’t get the three-wheeled scooters they’re asking for.
Somebody could step in and save their Christmas through United Way’s Sub for Santa program, getting Alexis and Spencer their scooters, and 1-year-old Ryan a baby balance bike.
Also on the wish list for the two eldest siblings are helmet, knee, elbow and wrist pads. Spencer also wants Phonics series book and Alexis would like Baby-Sitters Club books.
Among necessary items, Alexis needs a coat, pajamas and leggings, Spencer needs a coast, long sleeve shirt and joggers and Ryan needs a baby outfit, baby onesies and a coat.
“Help with Christmas gifts for our children would mean the world to us,” Sandra said.
