Samantha said her family has always had a small, frugal Christmas and that she has always been able to provide it on her own.
But this year, she needs the extra help because she returned to school, and between the load of being a mom of five and a full-time student, she does not have time to work and has no expendable income.
United Way’s Sub for Santa program could provide Samantha and her family with the Christmas they deserve.
“Receiving assistance would help because I read that there would be some clothing items as well,” Samantha said. “I have never done extravagant Christmases, but my kids have always gotten at least one gift.”
Cassandra, 15, is asking for a nice plant for her room and fairy lights. She needs a sweatshirt, joggers and a zip-up jacket. Adriana, 13, wishes for perfume and the “Upside of Falling” book and needs a hoodie, beanie and a zip-up jacket.
Mary, 11, wants a Squishmallow and a “Daughters of Eville” book to go with joggers, a long-sleeve shirt and a coat. Mitchell, 7, needs joggers, a long-sleeve shirt and a coat to stay warm and would like an Elf on the Shelf and a Nerf Bow.
Gift ideas for the youngest, Mathias, 2, are horses and tractor toys as well as books on animals. He needs a coat, long-sleeve shirt and joggers.
