A firefighter combats a motorhome fire that broke out Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Provo.

A motorhome parked on the driveway of a residence caught fire in Provo on Tuesday afternoon, destroying the vehicle but not causing any injuries, a spokesperson for Provo Fire and Rescue confirmed.

The fire broke out just after noon in the Edgemont Neighborhood near 2950 N and 250 East. According to eyewitnesses, the fire department responded quickly.

Provo Fire and Rescue Captain Cameron Wilkey said there were two people in house next to the motorhome at the time of the fire who were evacuated “simultaneous to the extinguishment,” and were moved out of harm’s way.

He also confirmed the recreational vehicle was a total loss, but said there was no serious damage to the home.

“There was some facial damage, and we were able to stop any spread from making it to the interior of the home,” Wiley said. “So all minor exterior damage to the home.”

Next door neighbor Lloyd Weffer said he was in his home when the fire broke out.

“We actually just saw people looking down the road. So I thought something must be going on down the road. So I popped out, looked down the road and realized ‘That’s our neighbor’s trailer that’s on fire,'” Weffer said.

His immediate concern was the flames were going to spread to his home, just a handful of feet to the south, so he ran inside to warn his family.

“The first thing I did is I told my kids, ‘Hey, everyone, get out. The house next to us is on fire. We don’t know if it’s going to spread,'” Weffer said.

He believes there were people home when the fire broke out because he heard people screaming and yelling, but he said a fire engine arrived fast and evacuated people immediately.

“By the time I got out, that fire engine had pulled up. It was impressive. And we’ve got a fire station right there. That’s probably as fast a response as you can get,” Weffer said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Wiley said.
