The summer months in Utah County give way to endless activities and memorable moments spent with family and friends.
Whether it’s a fireworks or drone show at a local park, floating the Provo River or exploring all that nature has to offer at Utah Lake, there are plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the season.
Summer is also a time when local municipalities take time to celebrate what makes their individual towns unique with their annual city festivals.
At events like Steel Days in American Fork, Strawberry Days in Pleasant Grove or Payson’s Onion Days, these celebrations and many others across Utah Valley serve as a reflection of each city’s history, while observing the progressions made that signal their paths toward the future.
Here’s a list of city celebrations from Lehi to Santaquin, all with a bevy of various activities.
JUNE
Springville’s Art City is happening through Saturday, and boasts a list of activities for the entire family. Highlights this year include the carnival, the children’s art festival on Friday, a balloon fest and the grand parade on Saturday. Splash Days in Saratoga Springs runs through Saturday and includes a carnival, parade, free concert, picnic in the park, pickleball tournament, fireworks and more.
“Saratoga Splash Days is a time when neighbors come together to celebrate what makes ‘Life just Better Here’ in Saratoga Springs,” said Mayor Jim Miller in a statement. “By joining together to celebrate we build bonds that strengthen the community as a whole.”
Pleasant Grove’s Strawberry Days is back for its 104th year, running from June 14-22. According to the complete event schedule, the weeklong festival is jam-packed with just about everything from art shows to historic walking tours, and various strawberry-themed activities.
Organizers have added a quilt show for this year’s event to take place June 19 and June 21.
Strawberry Days, according to the city’s website, is regarded as being one of the longest running city celebrations in the state.
Lehi Round-Up celebration takes place from June 23-28, the celebration includes a mixture of rodeos, parades, concerts, markets, basketball tournaments, a chalk the walk competition and much more.
Organizers say the celebration will have something for everyone.
“Lehi Round-Up is a chance for the community to come together and enjoy a week of events that highlight some of our favorite local traditions,” said Mel Busath, Lehi City events manager, in a statement. “From the parades and rodeo to concerts and our new Field Fest at Lehi Sports Park, there’s something for all ages. It’s a great mix of what people know and love, with a few new things we’re excited to try.”
JULY
Provo will be hosting the annual Freedom Days from July 3-5. Food and craft vendors will be lining the streets for patrons to browse and shop while live music plays. Other events include the Balloon Fest, Military History Days, Colonial Fest, Grand Parade, Freedom Run and the Stadium of Fire on July 4 at LaVell Edwards Stadium on the campus of Brigham Young University featuring a headlining performance by Rascal Flatts.
American Fork’s Steel Days is set for July 12-19. Highlighted activities include a car show, carnivals, drone show, fireworks, the grand parade and more.
Fiesta Days in Spanish Fork runs from July 19-24 and will include a car show, carnivals, fireworks and much more.
City leaders invite all to enjoy a plethora of activities and create new memories.
“This year’s Fiesta Days theme is Igniting Tradition, & Sparking Memories. It encompasses what our residents have experienced for decades at our annual city celebration over the week of the 24th of July,” City Council member Stacy Beck said in a statement. “Families, friends & neighbors come together creating memories at the rodeo, carnival, fireworks, car show, parades and more!”
Santaquin’s Orchard Days takes place July 26 through Aug. 2. The schedule of events includes the Little Buck-a-Roo Rodeo, Cornhole and pickleball tournaments, parade, car show and a fireworks presentation.
Lindon Days runs July 27 through Aug. 2. Attendees can enjoy the car show, senior social bingo, huck finn fishing, concerts, grand parade, fireworks and much more.
Mayor Carolyn Lundberg says all are invited to savor the joys of summer and bask in memorable moments for wholesome community fun.
“Our theme this year is ‘Sunshine and Lemonade’ to celebrate that despite the difficult things going on in the world, we can look on the bright side and come together during Lindon Days to be grateful for our families, neighbors, and friends that serve and help each other in our beautiful community,” Lundberg told the Daily Herald in a statement.
The Highland Fling is from July 31 through Aug. 2 and will be filled with a variety of activities and entertainment for all ages.
AUGUST
Salem Days runs from Aug. 1-9 and features a car show, tractor pull, treasure hunt, fireworks and a host of other activities, according to the city’s website.
Payson’s Golden Onion Days returns for its 96th year running Aug. 28-Sept. 1. Activities include concerts, a carnival, baby contest, car show, 5K and 10K races, parade, fireworks, food and merchandise vendors.
