A section of Mountain View Corridor in Saratoga Springs will close for roughly a month beginning next week due to “unforeseen conflicts involving multiple third-party utilities,” city officials announced in a social media post Wednesday.

The road will close to all pass-through traffic between Pioneer Crossing and Pony Express Parkway for approximately five weeks, starting Monday.

While the announcement does not specify exact reasons for the closure, Saratoga Springs officials say it should allow for a more “aggressive construction schedule,” claiming it will help shorten the overall timeline of the current project.

Work is presently underway to widen Mountain View Corridor from Pioneer Crossing to Pony Express Parkway, extending it to five lanes.

The project calls for two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane, according to the city’s website.

However, local residents may feel some traffic impacts as a result of the closure.

A map outlines the anticipated detours drivers will encounter. Residents are asked to access their respective neighborhoods from the west.

The city says it anticipates opening 1200 North to local traffic after the first few weeks, and other access points should also open as the construction progresses.

Additionally, Saratoga Springs officials said they are working closely with the fire department to make sure there is no disruption to any emergency response efforts.
