The outside of the Alpine School District Board of Education office in American Fork is shown Monday, Dec 30, 2024.

Following the Alpine School District Board of Education’s approval of a $238 million revenue bond in April for the construction of two new schools in northwest Utah County, plans are already moving forward with at least one of the projects.

The Alpine School District announced Monday in a press release that it will break ground on a long-anticipated new high school in Saratoga Springs on Friday.

The event will include a ceremony featuring remarks by Alpine School District officials, leaders from Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain and Hogan Construction Co.

Final site plans for the new high school — set to be located near Mountain View Corridor and Ensign Drive, just south of the Saratoga Springs temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — were recently submitted to the city.

The new high school, set to open in 2028, will serve students in the growing area of Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain, where there are currently only two high schools — Westlake and Cedar Valley.

Alpine School District board President Julie King said the new high school will be a testament to the belief and hope the community has in future generations.

“This high school is more than bricks and mortar — it is more than playing fields and classrooms. This high school is a long-term investment in the future of our community,” King said in a statement. “This enterprise demonstrates our commitment to teachers and is a pledge to meet the needs of every child who walks through its doors.”

The new high school is scheduled to open after the Alpine School District in its current form is dissolved and the emerging Lake Mountain School District is put in place.

Alpine School District also plans to build and open a new elementary school in Eagle Mountain within the next three years.

The new high school is anticipated to be one of the largest in the state, according to the press release.

“It’s an honor to be part of the team to bring a new high school to life–a space thoughtfully created to inspire learning, foster innovation, and empower our students,” said Frank Pulley, Alpine School District director of physical facilities, in a statement.

The groundbreaking is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m.
