As the popularity of pickleball continues to rise, a Utah-based franchise is bringing a new indoor facility in northern Utah County this weekend.

The Picklr, an indoor pickleball franchise headquartered in Kaysville, will open its new 40,000-square-foot, 13-court facility Saturday.

According to a press release issued June 12, The Picklr Lehi, which actually sits in Saratoga Springs, will be one of the company’s largest facilities across the country.

The new location will mark The Picklr’s first Utah County facility, and its eighth across all of Utah — in addition to facilities in 29 other states.

The Picklr’s first facility opened in 2021, and they’ve expanded to more than 40 locations since then.

Future openings are also planned for Bluffdale later this year and in Spanish Fork sometime next year, according to the release.

The Picklr Lehi will sit in a newly built, 40-foot-high roof building located at 629 N. Saratoga Road, just south of Pioneer Crossing — near the border of Lehi and Saratoga Springs.

The facility will feature enhanced amenities like custom sound baffling at 25 feet high, full locker rooms and showers, a warm-up and cool-down area, a player’s lounge, a private event room, as well as a “state-of-the-art” podcast room, the release states.

It will also include two championship-sized courts.

According to a November 2024 report by the Sports & Fitness Industry Association, pickleball’s popularity has grown by 223.5% over the past three years.

Not only has the sport taken the country by storm, the Beehive State also appears to be a hotbed for pickleball.

A study conducted by Action Network to determine which states are the most pickleball-obsessed found Utah at No. 2 on the list.

The factors were based on the number of places to play pickleball, the state’s Google search volume for pickleball-related terms and the Google Trends ranking for interest in pickleball by state.

The growth of the sport is also rising in Utah County.

A 2024 report by TeachMe.To, an online network for sports lessons, listed Orem second in the nation for top pickleball cities. Mapleton, Springville and Provo were also listed among the top 50.

The Picklr Lehi franchise owners said opening a facility in Utah County is a longtime dream turned into reality.

“As we get ready to open our doors to the community, we are excited to offer the best-in-class indoor pickleball experience that Utah County has ever had,” reads a statement attributed to Dave Norton and Greg Larsen, The Picklr Lehi franchise owners. “The Picklr takes indoor pickleball to the next level, and we are excited to bring this experience to the Utah County community.”

Their grand opening celebration is slated for Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is open to the public to tour and experience the new facility.

Starting at $4.32/week.
