BYU's Kennard Davis Jr. rebounds the ball in a men's college basketball game against Holy Cross at the Marriott Center on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.

A member of the BYU basketball team was arrested Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to a news release from Provo Police.

Police responded to a crash at 900 W. and Center Street around 11:45 a.m. and subsequently took Davis into custody, according to the release.

Davis was transported to the Provo police station for further investigation, where he was cited with DUI charges, police said. He was released for medical treatment for minor injures, and his vehicle was impounded.

Davis is a transfer from Southern Illinois. He started in the first two games of the season for BYU, and was averaging nine points per game.

He did not play in Tuesday’s game against Delaware.

BYU athletics issued a statement Thursday night, that said, “We are aware of the allegations and looking into the situation.”
