Wildfire ignited in Hobble Creek Canyon Thursday afternoon, officials say

A wildfire broke out in the right fork of Hobble Creek Canyon near Mapleton Thursday afternoon, forcing officials to place an evacuation notice for the canyon.
The Utah County Fire Department reported after 5 p.m. the “Cherry Fire” is 150 acres in size and growing. An evacuation notice went out to residents in the right fork of Hobble Creek to the Springville Crossing. Mapleton Fire, state of Utah fire and Utah County fire are on the scene.
“Please stay out of the area! We need to keep the roadways clear for emergency vehicles and crews to get into the area,” the county fire department said.
