Teachers and staff at Orem Junior High School are getting a brief break from cooking as they received a week’s worth of meals courtesy of Utah-based Beehive Meals.

Julie Jensen, a teacher at Orem Junior High School, attended the Show Up for Teachers conference in July where she entered a contest to win $20,000 worth of Beehive Meals for her and fellow faculty members at the school.

Jensen said she was already a customer of the freezer-meal preparation delivery service, and knew it would be a generous gesture if she were to win.

On Aug. 25, the meals were delivered to the school and distributed to 120 staff members, who took home five meals each.

“Teaching students at Orem is already so rewarding; I am happy that my colleagues get to participate in this meal giveaway as a small token of appreciation for the wonderful and tireless work they do every day,” she said.

Jensen said aside from the gift of the free meals, the token of appreciation also takes the busywork out of preparing family dinner after a long day on the job.

“Like this is saving me time and money,” she said.

Assistant Principal, Kimberly Milne echoed that sentiment.

“We are all so grateful for community partners like Beehive Meals who recognize the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of our teachers here at Orem Junior and throughout Alpine School District,” she said.

Jensen said the gesture underscores community support for educators.

“It’s such a demanding job, and to know that there are people valuing what we do day to day – we really appreciate it,” she told the Daily Herald.
